Absent credit, try and buy a burger with some trust. Credit is trust. The question is whether the trust is warranted. With a 100% reserve system, trust can rightly be earned and warranted. With a fractional reserve system, it cannot be warranted.

Can it really be argued that banks create money out of thin air when the money (credit) they create is actually backed by the trust they've built up over the years? Isn't the money actually backed by an asset - their trust?

Hi Andre:

Thanks for writing. No, I see no reason why 100% reserve banking would not work on a global scale.

The more important question is: why do some people continue to think that fractional reserve banking 'works' on a global scale (or on any other scale, for that matter)?

Wonderful! A simple explanation of the subject of 100% reserve banking. I am an American with a Jurist Doctorate. I really want to become an expert on the subject. I think I have found a cause worth fighting for. Fractional reserve banking needs to become a thing of the past. As of yet I have not considered 100% reserve banking on a global scale. Do you see any reason why 100% reserve banking would not work on a global scale?
