Over at the Western Standard's blog, which published the above media release, "matt" wrote:

I guess McKeever was too busy writing this manifesto to realize there was an election happening and that he's the leader of a political party.

I responded as follows:

Matt: Actually, there isn't an election on in this country. It ended yesterday. The media release was issued today.

The two problems identified in the media release are detrimental to the democratic process and to national unity. However, in addition, they are detrimental to the prospect of any new political party ever being able to compete on a level playing field with the parties (a) included in the debates, and (b) funded with money taken from Canadians without their consent.

To my mind, any political party leader who refrains from saying anything about these obvious and serious problems is doing his or her party, and voters, a disservice. If a party defending individual freedom is ever to have a chance at electoral success, the rules must not set up artificial advantages in favour of the collectivist status quo.

Paul McKeever
Leader, Freedom Party</blocquote>
