Legalizing it would mean admiting they made a mistake in the first place…What I don’t understand is it’s okay for them to put unrecognizable chemicals and by-products in our food and make our children morbidly obese or create ‘socialbly exceptable’ drugs to give to my grandma that are potentially more harmful then the ailment itself (some drugs made from the same ingredients as heroin), but then not allow a person to use something natural as remedy. Don’t let ‘em know how awesome the acai berry is or we’ll lose that next…can you imagine the propaganda?…lol.

I definitely agree with Jane Rosen’s response. To prevent Harper from “never seeing the questions about legalization”, this entire blog post should be sent many times over to Harper himself. If he truly cares to honestly address what the Canadian care about (clearly, this issue) as well as the majority of Americans (obviously include me), he will thoughtfully consider his options on responding to the questions presented in this blog. It would almost be a cheat sheet of how to answer these questions honestly.

Maybe he’s already read this blog post. I know that’s probably lofty thinking on my part.

There is another possibility for how this will go: About a month ago Obama answered questions on Youtube as well. The number one question that people wanted answered, of course, was also related to cannabis legalization. The Powers-That-Be simply censored the question. Obama never saw it.

Don’t be too surprised if the same thing happens here.

Thank You, Mr. McKeever for the wonderful article, all too often in the mainstream media fear mongering and blatent lies based on personal opinion and ideology are presented in articles regarding cannabis and legalization.

I’d also like to throw out there that what many anti-prohibitionists are asking for is not a “Wild West” of legalization, but a regulated system of quality control and distribution for adults, much like we already do for alcohol. Also, if Canadians were licensed to grow say, 25 plants per person a year outside in our backyards, this would stop clandestine indoor grow operations. The Sun and Earth are so much better for plants than lights and fertilizer in a damp basement, I’m sure any gardener would agree.

For me what our Cannabis Laws come down to is: “Who owns my body”? And of course, the answer will always be Me, Myself and I – the mere notion that politicians believe they have the right to incarcerate me for ingesting a substance much safer than alcohol, tobacco, many prescription drugs and even caffeine and fast food is absolutely rediculous. When will our elected officials finally realize that they can’t legislate human behavior?

I’m glad that Canadians have the chance to ask the PM about legalization, I myself asked one about Bill C-15, but honestly I am expecting the same old ideological “Tough on Crime!” ranting rhetoric that Steve-O and the rest of the Conservatives (Reform/Alliance) are oh so good at. Janey Canuck would be proud.

Well put! What bugs me the most is the fact that the majority of people (potheads or not) know all this information and believe it to be correct ( because it is)…… So what happened to listening to the majority, serving the people ???? The problem is our leaders, especially the US leaders ( our leaders are just scared little wimps)….. but ULTIMATLEY we the people will prevail….. whether our leaders do anything or not!!!
Legalize it !!!!!

thank you for being someone open enough to recognise the crap which is put on herb users while not actually being one yourself. most people just wouldn’t bother; but as we’ve seen, the issue is not herb, the issue is personal freedom/responsibility. not all folks who partake of the herb are “potheads”… some use it for creative and spiritual purposes, others just like the headspace it creates. cheers from melbourne, oz 8-}
